Handcrafting more for sharing

Sara DunhamComment

I’m so excited to announce that I will start accepting orders for big numbers of orders at a time. I had a couple of experiences with making orders for a wedding shower and another for girls gymnastics team. And I have to say I really enjoyed executing them and being a part of something special for these families.

The wedding shower was all about glamorous anklets and bling. I made them for a beach reception that included adults and kids so I was able to make different sizes of the same design.

The second order was bracelets for girls at a competitive gymnastics team around the holidays time. I really enjoyed making those bracelets because I was able to directly relate since my daughter used to be one of those girls. Hence, I knew how thoughtful something like that would be for the girls and their families.

I would be really thrilled to be a part of something like that again. Let me know if you have any event that you would like to design a jewelry piece for and share it for your specific event. I would love meet with you and discuss details and options.

Amethyst Allure

Sara DunhamComment

February Birthstone-- Signature Love Stone--Valentine's Day Stone.

One of my favorite stones is Amethyst and yes it does have its allure! It is the color of royalty, and it makes a perfect Valentine's day gift.

I love all the shapes and sizes of this stone, and that's why I wanted to share some of it's meaning and how it has been used throughout time in history.

Amethyst Gemstone meaning

Crystalline quartz in shades of purple, lilac or mauve is called amethyst, a stone traditionally worn to guard against drunkeness and to instill a sober mind. The word amethyst comes from the Greek meaning "without drunkenness" and amethyst is believed to protect one from poison.

Protection Stone

Ancient Egyptians used the amethyst guard against guilty and fearful feelings. It has been worn as protection from self-deception, as well as a protection against witchcraft. The amethyst has long been used to open the spiritual and psychic centers, making it one of the power stones. It is also used as a meditation aid when worn as a necklace.

Wisdom Stone

The amethyst is known as the Bishop's Stone and is still worn by Catholic Bishops. The amethyst symbolizes piety, humility, sincerity and spiritual wisdom. It is thought the amethyst is the perfect stone to symbolize The Age of Aquarius.

Healing properties of Amethyst

Amethyst is a gemstone often worn by healers, as it has the power to focus energy. A healer will usually wear several pieces of jewelry with amethysts set in silver, especially an amethyst necklace. The person to be healed will have an Amethyst to hold while the healing is being done. The healer will place another piece of Amethyst on the area of the body in need of healing, the heart or lungs usually.

"Chokers" FW2016 Staple

Sara DunhamComment

The Choker trend has made a huge comeback this FW 2016 season and is more versatile than ever!  So lately, necks are the new cleavage. Chokers have resurfaced and adorned celebrities necks. Say hello to the skinny bit of fabric or leather that embellished many necks in the 90s. Chokers peaked in the 1990s, flooded the 2004 catwalks, came back again in SS 2012 and popped up last winter, last spring and again this season.

Chokers looks good with pretty much everything; be it a masculine tuxedo jacket or a romantic gown. Style wise, you can use it as a layering piece. Accessorize like a pro by wearing the “it” necklace over a turtleneck.

Wear it with another necklace. Layer your choker with a long, beaded necklace for “bohemian” vibe. Pair it with denim. Even a basic denim jacket and t-shirt are upgraded with this necklace. Team it with a girlie dress. Toughen up a feminine dress with this ribbon as necklace tied around your neck. The choker is delicate. It’s an unusual accessory and adds a different mood to your look; it gives a little bit of an edgy touch, like a rock star, to even the simplest of looks.

Chokers have a history too! During the French Revolution, women used to wear red ribbons around their necks to pay homage to those who met their death at the guillotine.

I say give it a try, you'll love it!!!

To your first love!

Sara DunhamComment

Some people may think it's your companion or your high school sweetheart. But today I'm talking about your "Mom".

She is everyone's first love. what is it like? It's this first mutual relationship any person had that is based on "Love". When does it start? Since the day you were born. Wow! Isn't that special...People didn't really need a certain day to remind them of this special person in their lives. Mother's day is just considered a celebration that this person is actually a part of your life.

Give a little gratitude for all Mom has done: from kissing your boo-boos as a kid to late-night heart to hearts to making lasting memories. Honor her with breakfast in bed with a little surprise in the morning from "Bejeweled by Sara" collection.

Let her feel Bejeweled even for one day...and hopefully she will cherish it on and on...
